BOOKS
-
The 5 Minute Journal
I never thought I would get into gratitude journaling, but this one changed my mind. it’s beautifully made and presented and has a really great explainer at the start, giving you the scientific / psychological reasons why! I highly recommend!
-
The Wander Society by Kerry Smith
The Wander Society will help you get creative! It's the perfect book for anyone who wants an hands-on practical guide to being creative, that helps you get out and be creative by giving you fun easy to follow activities and a sense of community too! Watch my video review of it on my channel too!
-
Creative Quest by Questlove
Questlove’s thoughts on creativity, where it comes from, it’s importance and how to stir it are well worth the read! His disarming charm translates to the page perfectly and he shows just how interesting, interested and thoughtful he is in this book and mixes in anecdotes and learnings from his own career and his encyclopaedic knowledge of music history too!
-
Appetities - A Cookbook by Anthony Bourdain
This book is a thing of beauty, written by a true creative legend and huge inspiration for me.. his dry wit, and no nonsense approach also somehow balance with a deeply personal and revealing to read (yes, in a cookbook!) and is not suitable for vegans, vegetarians.. don't say I didn't warn you.
-
Creativity by John Cleese
The man, myth and comedy legend John Cleese on Creativity. This is a great little book, a very short, funny and useful guide that inspired me a great deal.
-
Cinema Speculation by Quentin Tarantino
This book is so much fun.. Tarantino is as good an Author as he is Director & Screenwriter and this book is equal parts personal memoir, film history and critique.
-
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson
One of my favourite books of all time, I laugh out loud every time I read it. It’s a masterwork. The writing is evocative, exciting and beautifully carries you through the madness that is this drug-fuelled romp through seventies vegas.
-
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
One of my favourite non-fiction books I’ve read recently about “Breaking Through the Blocks and Winning Your Inner Creative Battles“ It is both very well written, insightful, funny and not too long. I found it very helpful.
-
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson
This book changed my life… it’s laugh out loud funny, outrageous and obscene in all the best ways possible and wouldn’t get published nowadays! I made a video about it on YouTube Shorts / IG reels / TikTok! It’s a MasterClass in pushing the limits and blending the essence of real life with fiction!
-
Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch
This is an incredibly interesting and very different book on Creativity! As you would expect from David Lynch the norms of your standard self-help book or creative memoir are not followed here. But as wacky as it may seem it is packed full of wisdom, wit and is well worth the read. I found its ideas inspiring and enlightening.
-
Leviathan Wakes by James SA Corey
One of the most entertaining, thrilling, mind expanding books (and series of books) I’ve read in ages. The world is gritty, exciting and addicting to enter and the characters, flawed and beautifully compelling. I think this book in particular is a storytelling, world-building masterpiece and a truly incredible read.
